THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE
TO THE GREAT BRITAIN LINE ENGRAVED
1d AND 2d STARS 1840 –1864

BY DR.KENNETH W. STATHAM

Dr.Staham has been studying this period for over 30 years. For each plate used Dr.Statham analyses its HISTORY, ALIGNMENT,CHARACTERISTICS, CHECK LETTERS, DESCRIPTION, DATES, QUANTITIES, IMPRIMATURS and gives detailed listings of its VARIETIES as an aid to plating. The impetus for this book came from the frustration of his early plating days and with the information then published. The availability and access to new information, material and original documents have enabled previous data to be checked and amended where necessary. Many THOUSANDS of NEW VARIETIES have been listed for the first time, following Dr.Statham's meticulous research and process of double-checking. It is intended that virtually EVERY VARIETY is ILLUSTRATED – all drawn by Dr.Statham.

Dr.Statham hopes that his publication will enable other collectors, both specialist and beginners alike, to derive the same pleasure that he has had over the years in collecting these issues.

The scope of the series is so large that we anticipate that it will be published in several parts. NOW AVAILABLE

Personally I find it unbelievably useful for identifying or cross-referencing 1d Reds and Plating the 2d Stars is a "doddle" using Volume 18 (still available separately at £100 each) which includes the reproduction of the photographs of the Dendy Marshall reconstructions. We recently received a phone call from a collector who wanted to plate his 2d Blues Plates 1 to 6. Volume 18 was despatched and two days later we had a another call from this Excited and Very Satisfied customer who waxed so lyrical I could not write it down fast enough. If you do not have a full set of this publication, should you risk missing out any longer?

We currently have a complete set of Volumes 1 to 18 - used but in excellent condition available at £600 including Inland Postage.
